Does anyone know why this might be happening? From what I understand the sorts were "reasonable" prior to the migration to JFS2, but now they are much slower.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I know you are talking Journaled (or Journaling) File System and perhaps everyone else knows this, but... HPUX, AIX, what O/S are you dealing with Michael?
