A basic question about QualityStage as I have not even seen that tool.
Is QualityStage basically a Data Cleansing tool?

There is a separate forum for QualityStage, you might benefit from looking there. QualityStage performs four tasks; investigation of your data to determine how comprehensively your rules cover the data, standardization of data into standard forms (for example "Av", "Ave" and "Avenue" can all be converted to one format in a street address), matching using statistical (probabilistic) techniques to identify potential duplicates even though they are not identical duplicates ("fuzzy matching"), and survivorship, which is taking those blocks of potential duplicates and "surviving" best of breed records.
