Post by roy »

Hi All,
Does anyone know of ODBC driver for SQL Server
that is for alpha true 64 bit?

oh and if not, any thoughts of getting data from it, it is my source data?
(I have some Ideas like unloading and ftp the file to my DS server)

any info would help!

Thanks in advance,

There was a thread asking a similiar thing, and Ray said it best:

"If Microsoft want you to use SQL Server on UNIX, they will provide you with a version for UNIX."

Then Ken raised a suggestion that you ftp the data over.

Do a quick search.

It was my understanding that Ascential was shipping the Data Direct Wire Level ODBC drivers with the server. If not I would talk to the Data Direct folks since they do have 64 bit ODBC drivers for SQL Server that run on Unix platforms.

Unfortunately, all of the wire drivers seem to be marked as "[not Tru64]" in the server readme. So, as noted, I assume you'd need to purchase them for the Alpha platform from the vendor.

I just went to the Data Direct site and it looks like DataDirect does not even support Tru64.

Thanks All,
Ascential said they have a datadirect driver in the branded_odbc under installation directory.
I see it but the documnetation doesn't list it.

So now I miss the entries I need for the .odbc.ini file.
If anyone has them i'll apreciate it, otherwise I'll have to wait for Ascential's reply.

I'll try to give the final answer if it works when I get the entries I need.

Thank,

(workes fine were only typo problems in driver configuration  )
