DS- Set "Import MetaData-Browse Directories" list

Post by danjm »

Hi,
Our developers have data files in various locations around the corporate network. They would like to be able to Import data definitions for these files into DS.
Table Definitions(right-click)->Import->(file-type)->'browse button' brings up the "Browse Directories" dialog box. The "Drive on <servername>" drop down list shows only C:, D: and E:.
Is there a way to map other drives on the DS Server platform such that they will show up in this drop-down list? I need these mapped drives to show up for developers who are using the DS client software at their workstations.
Currently developers are forced to type in fully qualified path/filename specifications of the form "\\servername\path\fileneame".
Thanks in advance for your time and effort to consider this question. Have a great day everyone.

Remember it's the DataStage server that's doing the import of metadata. Are the network drives mapped on THAT machine? (That is, have the appropriate mappings been set up, either with the Windows GUI or via the net use command, on the server machine?)

Map a shared lan drive that all developers and the server can access. Hint: When you need to publish files out of DataStage job stream, say exception files, then this drive becomes invaluable.
