Start by looking in the log file that was created in the &PH& directory in your project directory. This file can log additional information after an abnormal termination. Look for the file with the most recent date, it will also be larger than the other files.

"Abnormal termination of stage..." is the most ubiquitous yet most un-helpful warning message in DataStage. It's vague (can't tell you what EXACTLY is the error) and usually is caused by a lot of things. The worst I experienced was the memory leak on the ORA OCI stage in DS4.2.

Anyway, this might help a bit... at least to narrow down your "suspects"...
1. reset your job. Sometimes other errors are exposed by resetting the job.
2. if step1 doesn't give you anything, follow Vincent's advice: just dig into the log file and look for an aberration.
3. otherwise, run your job again and monitor all your resources (CPU, RAM, swap disk space, etc).

If you still can't find the culprit, send your job and test data to Ascential Support...
