status job

Post by Angel »

Hi,
when I try to open a job, it shows this message:
'Job xxxx is being accessed by another user', I am the only user connected.

Thanks,

Hi Angel,

that's interaction between Windows (Client) and Server. Maybe that the last client process crashed and the Server believes you are still on.

So you have two chances. Wait until the end of the timeout (mostly an hour but theorethical eternety is also possible if timeout=0 look in administrator)

Or you go in the Director (if you have said in administrator, that job administration in Director is allowed)

And finaly you can go in the universe shell and unlock there the things with DS.TOOLS.

Details on DS.TOOLS are for sure if you make a search in this archive.

This message can also occur if the job is open in another window on your client, for example if you have the job properties open in Manager and try to open the job in Designer. It can also occur if the job is running with tracemode > 0.
Recall that the DataStage Repository - where the job designs are kept - is a database. If a job design editor opens a job, it is a "read for update" and thus locked against other attempts to read for update. A similar lock is taken if the job is being monitored or traced, so that unique results can be presented.
