Where can I find the Kernal Parameter requirements for DS 5.1 and Sun?

Look in the readme file that is located on the install media for DataStage Server.

Hi Rick -

I wondered where you got to. I'm still consulting for Ascential/Informix/Ardent/Vmark.

I have a sun box set up on the internet running DS 5.1 Solaris 8 and here are the values that Peter Coppenrath sent me. They seem to work for DataStage although I'm not having much luck installing Oracle 8i.

set msgsys:msginfo_msgmax = 65535
set msgsys:msginfo_msgmnb = 65535
set msgsys:msginfo_msgmni = 100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=268435456
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni = 120
set semsys:seminfo_semmsl = 111
set semsys:seminfo_semmns=4096
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=4096
set semsys:seminfo_semmnu=4096
set semsys:seminfo_semmap=64
set semsys:seminfo_semume=64

as you probably know they go in the /etc/system file and you need to be root to save it after editing.

for an oracle system the oracle docs (especially 9i) will state a HUGE value for shmax. you might want to lower this to our recommended settings in the Readme file on the cd (NOT THE UPGRADE GUIDE ON THE CD, this figure there is not correct on a 5.1x cd).

if you have the setting too high for this on a new install you might find some odd problems (mainly that no projects are installed or the install fails)...
