Error when accessing a project

Post by gpbarsky »

Hi.

I have a severe error when I try to open a project, using Designer, Manager or Director.

The error message is:

Failed to connect to host: desaetl.osde, project: backupProac-Cobran
( The directory you are connecting to either is not a UV account or does not exist (39125))

Does anybody know what is this ?
Does anybody know how to solve this situation ?

Any help, will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

When you try to connect to a DataStage project there is a drop down list of available project names in the client's connection dialog. The message you're getting indicates that the project name you're specifying does not exist for some reason.
One possible reason is that you've mis-typed or mis-cased the name of the project - project names are case sensitive. In this case simply choose from one of the project names in the drop-down list.
A second possible reason is that the project entry has been deleted from the UV.ACCOUNT hashed file (or has properly deleted the entire project (using the Administrator client). In this case, the project name will not appear in the drop-down list (or in the Administrator client).
Another possible reason is that someone has deleted or moved the actual project directory on the server, but not cleaned up the entry in UV.ACCOUNT. In this case the project name won't help. You would need to restore the project to its original location, either from backup media or from where it was moved to. (You should not restore from backup over the top of existing objects.)
