XML Input Stage Warning

I am getting the following informational warning for every message parsed by the XMLInput stage (v2.0.0);

Xalan fatal error (publicId: , systemId: , line: 1, column: 1): The main XML document cannot be empty

The XML appears to be parsed correctly and processing continues normally.

With other messages, I get this informational warning;

Xalan fatal error (publicId: , systemId: , line: 1, column: 292): Expected comment or processing instruction

And the XML is unceremoniously dropped, and processing ends for that input message.

The XML is well-formed and does not contain any special characters.

What is wrong?
Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.
