Using UDB Load for DB2 Plugin

Is it possible to load data using the UDB plugin (using the named pipes option)to a database on a server that is not the datastage server. We are struggling and not sure if it is a network permissions issue or a limitation of the plugin.

Error (in UDB message file):
SQL2025N An I/O error "20" occurred on media ".pipeudbpipe".
SQL1652N File I/O error occurred.

Errors (in DataStage Logs):
ERROR occurred : loading table.SQLCODE : -1652
SQL1652N File I/O error occurred.
Error occurred while loading table
Fatal Error occurred in pipe client thread
Error occurred while writing to NamedPipe
