Pin 1 not initialized

Post by PaulS »

Hi,

I've created a new datastage 8.5 installation in our new development environment. All good, no issues with the installation. I've imported and compiled a project for use in dev. After running a quick smoke test job, I'm getting "Pin 1 not initialized". All other jobs I've tested have the same error.

After searching the forums, I've looked at the following;
Recompiling the job.
Opened the stage type in designer
Check the DSParams file for the project,. has not been altered.

As per.. JR33952
Problem conclusion:
If the job design is compiled, or the missing stage is opened
in the Designer, the equired Stage Type record will be
automatically provisioned onto the server. This will remove

Any help appreciated, bit stuck now.

Thanks in advance

Are the jobs that give this error job sequences or also normal server jobs?

Server jobs - the error is specifically coming from a transformer stage.

I've not encountered anything like your error before.

If you create a test project and create a test job in that do you also get the same error in that project? If so, it might be worth thinking about biting the bullet and re-installing DataStage from scratch.

I'm considering it, but wanted to check here first..

I'll create a new project and try that.

Craig's link looks like a likely candidate for the error. "chmod -r" here we come...

I think a coworker of mine told me this is a Univers database thing. PIC stuff if I remember correctly.

He is on vacation this week otherwise I'd ask him to chime in.
