Problem with ODBC Stage

Post by reddysrc »

Hi Experts,

We had a problem with ODBC stage.

we are running on DataStage 7.5.2 with Oracle 10g.
used ODBC Stage to connect with Oracle tables. while running the jobs at FIRST time, taking very long time to complete the job. if you run the same job running with in 2 mins. but first time it's running for 40 mins.

I don't know why it's taking long time at 1st time.
but if you run same job again , finishing in 2 mins.

could you suggest me what is the problem, how to troubleshoot it.

thanks in Advance.

thx
Reddy

It could simply mean the data / cursor / whatever is still cached on the Oracle side for the second run. Have your DBA lend a hand, trace the execution both times and see.

First time oracle would have collected the statistics hence the second time it ran fast. But as craig said this needs to be proven by the dbas
