You really need to start doing a better job of asking questions here. What the heck do you mean by 'audit logs'? I for one prefer not to guess. :?

How can something that you cannot change be either an "advantage" or a "disadvantage"? This sounds suspiciously like an interview question asked by someone without DS knowledge. There is a DS_AUDIT "trial" for tracking job changes. There are job logs which could be construed as containing "audit" type of information (but that would require a very flexible approach to semantics).

Yet another guess is that an audit log allows such things as row count reconciliation to be performed more easily.

But we really don't know what you mean?

IS is an interview question? If so, we might like "a word" with the author of that question.

DataStage provides you information about count of rows processed with other information such as time taken, CPU utilized etc.

You can extend it further to extract and store in external media (i.e. outside DataStage) for audit.

If you plan carefully, you can also automate this with proper naming conventions.

Always easy to start...but difficult to follow. ;-)

You can also collect the number of rows passed in each link. Sometimes i found this is not correct. (when the job aborts)

 When someone asks you to explain what you mean, you cannot simply repeat the same string of words over and over. You rephrase, you explain using different words, you go into details so people know what you need help with rather than having to guess or assume.

I for one, in my crotchety old age, am more and more disinclined to guess what the heck people may need help with. If it's unclear and the poster has been asked to clarify and that clarification doesn't come or is like pulling teeth, I'll move on.

Help us help you, people.
