DS_AUDIT / Version Control

Post by bmouton »

Newbie question ...

I'm trying to create a clean report (rtf, html, comma-delimited) that will provide the following information:

JOB_NAME
Date of Last Modification
Changes Made

*** I realize that the changes made is wishful thinking ...

Wondering how others are managing version control as well ...

Any ideas are welcome!!!

My understanding is that IBM was working on integrating ClearCase as the source code control mechanism for DataStage 8.1. Not certain where that process is at.

Otherwise it is very problematic since you'd have to do a "diff" on the dsx exports after every mod.

You can get two of the columns from DS_AUDIT. Do a search.

DS_AUDIT seems to be a bit flaky in version 8. For example it seems to use CLASS '7' for pretty much everything. I guess with the totally flexible repository structure there's not much they could do there. Or maybe there was, and they just broke it.
The Cross Project compare tool (in versoin 8, not earlier) is a winner for answering questions like "do we have the latest version in production?"

It has already been provided, as a Search would reveal.
