Cannot import server routine DS 8.0 in DS 8.1

Post by MrJingle »

Hi, we're dealing with the upgrade to DS 8.1, starting from DS 8.0.
I need to migrate some custom basic routine: so we unchecked the 'Exclude read only items' check box and we had our '.dsx' file.

When I start 'Import' procedure from a '.dsx' file, custom routine cannot be imported.
The message is 'x server job, shared container, routine or stagetype objects where ignored'.
The same happens with the 'XML' extension.

We got the same problem even if we try to export from DS 8.1 to DS 8.1

Can anyone help us?

Are your "custom BASIC routines" read-only? There really shouldn't be any need to include read only items unless they are, that option is meant to exclude all of the built-in routines that ship with the product.

What are the items selected when you click OPTIONS button on EXPORT window?

No, they're not 'read-only'.

When you exported the objects, did you add your custom routine available under Routines folder?

Just include your routines in the dsx file and leave the read only objects excluded. If they are in a unique folder that should be easy, worst case export individually and append.

"By single element" means you created a dsx file with *just* one custom routine in it and you still could not import it?

I am using 8.1 too. I just exported DSJobReport built-in routine with exclude read only and include dependent unchecked. Then i opened the dsx file and renamed the routine to DSJobReport1. Saved it and imported back to the same environment. I am able to see DSJobReport1 routine under built-in folder. Pls check all the options that you selected while exporting and importing.

BTW, when you export a single routine, do you see the contents in the DSX file?

That's it!!! The contents in the dsx file are partial...
Which is your choice in 'Job components to export' drop down list?
