Key in sequential File

Post by myukassign »

I have a Sequential file source and target server job. I am making one column in the target as Key column. But it is easily inserting any duplicate values there.

May I know what is the use of Key column in a sequential file stage?

None. More of a informational / metadata thing, if anything, for you to mark the 'key' columns. Got nothing at all to do with duplicates on the target side, especially in a sequential target.

You will need to handle / remove the 'duplicates' in the source data in your job design. How you manage that is completely up to you and the nature of the duplicates... stage variables, hashed files, aggregator... there are a number of different techniques.
