Merge stage in server jobs

Hi All,

This is venu new to the Data stage.could you please explain about the Merge stage..
please let me know the is there any constraints on input metadata..
is it must to specify the teporary directory path in Merge stage..

The Merge stage performs a join between two text files. I do not know whether entering the temporary directory is mandatory, but attempting to compile without it filled in will answer that question.

Not mandatory as it will default to 'the current working directory' - i.e. your Project. Generally a Bad Idea, btw.

:lol: I guess in principal that I agree, seeing as how I never use it, prefering other mechanisms to 'join' or merge files.

There's only one place I'd use the Merge Stage: if I need to do a many-to-many join.
