Package installer

Post by deepthi »

Hi,

I am using pacakge wizard to create package out of a project. This has all the jobs that are released. I am not able to create the package that includes both released jobs and user defined routines and transforms.

Can't we create package with both user routines and released jobs?

Thanks

No. A Package contains released jobs only.

Why are you doing this? The need for Packages was deprecated in about version 3.3.

Okay packing was since version 3.1 one of two options and no more the only one of versioning Jobs. At that time the installation was only possible by root.

The Release and Package Wizzard has two advantages:

(1) no need to leave the (Unix)-Server
(2) no need to have any DataStage-Client-Tool for the person, who installs

The way via export and import on the client-side, what is the way most of us do versioning with (some who came between version 5.1 and 7.5.3 to the tool do it even with in contrary to the release way in Version 8 no more existent Version-Control-Tool) on other way.
