DS install on different location than /home/dsadm

Post by I_Server_Whale »

Hi all,

Is there any disadvantage or things that we should be aware if DataStage is installed in a different directory than /home/dsadm?

Will it behave differently than /home/dsadm install?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Whale.

It can be installed anywhere except the root directory, and will behave exactly the same. /home/dsadm is the default only because it must exist if dsadm is doing the install.

Another exception: it must be installed in a "real" directory, not on a symbolic link.

There isn't any disadvantage. I usually install in the structure below:

Installation : /dstage/product/
Projects : /dstage/projects/
Repository : /dstage/repository/

Attention for the permissions of the directory.

Code: Select all

drwxr-xr-x 6 dsadm dstage 4096 Jan 1 12:04 dstage
