Authentication problem in DataStage 8

Post by rafik2k »

Hi,
I am encountering following error while login in DataStage version 8 using Designer Client/Director Client though i pass correct login and password

Failed to authenticate the current user agains selected Domain: datamigtest:9080
Could not connect to server[datamigtest] on port [9080]

I checked following service, these services showing Started

DataStage Engine Resource Service
DataStage Telnet Service
DSRPC Service

Could you please let me know what could be reason for this?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I checked another service called IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 - datamigtestNode01,
which was stopped initially.
I started it and tried to login, but same error I am getting.
I checeked this service again, it shows stopped.

I guess, issue is due to this service.

Can you please let me know how to sort this out?

Thanks

Make sure you have the 8.0.1 version. We started with 8.0 and it is not the right version Full of problems.

As for authentication, your port is the problem. Make sure you have an available port. The installation default sometime collides with existing port usage.

Are you using the DB2 ver 9 as the default installation?

Ensure the DB2 services are running correctly (as local service), also, ensure that you have a local datastage user account in the windows Local Users and Groups with local admin access. This same local datastage user account also needs to be created and assigned roles in the Information server console, and with the DataStage credentials.

Which type of User registry are you using to authenticate - Internal User Registry/ OS Registry / LDAP ?

I used Internal User registry and had no problems loggin in. Did you configure the user through the IIS Admin console with the required privileges/ roles?

Is port #9080 blocked by a firewall on your client machine (or anywhere else)?

If your WebSphere Application Server is not running you will not be able to connect to the Metadata Server. If you started it and it shows up as being stopped maybe it is not starting correctly. Verify that it is running before you try DataStage.

I am using 8 .0 version and db2 version 9 is the default installation.
I checked db2 services also running correctly.

Please note server is installed in a stand alone machine, so i don't think firewall is a issue.

The main issue is WebSphere Application Server is not running properly, once i start it and click on any datastage client tool, it is automatically stopped.

Any other suggestion is be great.

Thanks

By the way the interesting point is that two days back it was running perfectly.
Next day when i logged on the system, it was showing some connection breaking problem.
I just closed that window and tried to log again, since then this problem started.

You're paying for support - what do they offer in the way of advice? Very few posters here have version 8.0 at this time.
