Hi
I have just started learning Datastage.Apart from the pdf docs available with the software itself what is the best way to get started .

What kind of jobs I need to start building ? What areas should I start concentrate/work ? Any suggestions, pointers ??

Do you have access to the Enterprise Edition and therefor Parallel jobs? Or 'just' Server jobs as you've marked the post? They are totally different animals.

Other than reading through the manuals, there should be a Tutorial cdrom amongst the media your company received. Use it to install some example objects and work through the exercises in the tutorial documentation. I know there is a Server tutorial, don't recall if there is one for PX jobs.

Start coming up with real time problems and start solving them, once you have read about different stages. chucksmith has a list of job designs on his website (found on his footer), check for it.

Apart from that a good basics about BASIC and C Programming which will also benefit as you move forward.
