Abnormal termination

Post by SPA_BI »

Hi,

One of the my job aborted and the there was only one warning message: Abnormal termination of stage <Jobname>..Transform detected

and here's the From previous run message generated when I reset the job:

From previous run
DataStage Job 892 Phantom 7929
kgefec: fatal error Abnormal termination of DataStage.
Fault type is 11. Layer type is BASIC run machine.
Fault occurred in BASIC program JOB.1077009604.DT.1386139145.TRANS10 at address 10

Any idea what might cause the error?

Is the error reproducable? Anyways, search on keywords "Layer type is BASIC run machine"

Can you please execute the following command in the Administrator client command window?

Code: Select all

VLIST RT_BP869 JOB.1077009604.DT.1386139145.TRANS10
The second column contains hex addresses. Find address 0x10, and post a few statements either side of it.
From that, you will be able to discern the statement that generated the problem.

The output was:

"RT_BP869" is not a file name.

Anyway I have this intuition that this error was caused by the server running out of memory and swap space. It was trying to write 15-18 million rows to a bulk loader.

I highly doubt thats the problem. That amount is peanuts for the bulk loader. I believe it was a typo from Ray's end. Its RT_BP892 and not RT_BP869. So run the following and post the result

Code: Select all

VLIST RT_BP892 JOB.1077009604.DT.1386139145.TRANS10
Also, can you explain what your design is and what stages you are using.

Now, now, you're going start a war here. Not everyone has a religious belief that involves a single god, or even a religious belief at all. :wink:

Ok... since this thread has gone totally off track, I don't feel too bad about continuing its downhill slide. And since this ties in (somewhat) with the subject of the post, I thought I would pass along this interesting website, which was the recent cause of a very long and LOUD 'discussion' in the office next to my digs earlier in the week. Enjoy! :wink:

When the result of the (correct) VLIST command is posted, then we'll be able to offer more cogent advice.

Here's the output. I hope I type out the right section

Code: Select all

...

00159: $INCLUDE DSINCLUDE DSD_STAGE.H
00159 00000 : 058 dimcom            STAGECOM.PIN 1024 => 1
00159 00008 : 058 dimcom            STAGECOM.NUM.ROWS 1024 => 1
00159 00010 : 058 dimcom            STAGECOM.ARR 8192 => 1

00160: $INCLUDE DSINCLUDE DSD_BCI.H
...
anyway how can I copy and paste the output from ds administrator command output.

Also the above command doesn't work with uv:

Code: Select all

rwvapp505:/x02/dsdata/DataStage/Projects/TST01\}uv
