regarding custom stages

regarding custom stages

Hi Gurus,
why does particular stage fall in customs category, i mean why is particular stage called custom stage.for eg, why does DRS stage fall under custom stage cateory while ODBC fall under normal category.
i wanted the true meaning of custom stage, plz help me in understanding the true meaning of custom stage.

Plugins are specific third party technology: Sybase, Oracle, DB2/UDB, Informix, etc. Standard stages are ODBC, Hashed, Sequential, Transformer, etc. DRS is just a pretty wrapper over the database plugins. If you don't install the plugins, you can't use them.

Someone has been playing. There is no 'Custom' Stage Type category out of the box and the DRS stage is delivered under Server/Database.

Almost all plug-in (= optionally installed) stages in server jobs belong to the class CCustomStage. It's simply an internal mechanism that allows them to inherit their fundamental methods and properties.

Nobody has been playing; they are delivered thus from the vendor.
