Unidata Stage access Unidata version 6.1 database

Post by ttk1973 »

Hi all,

We have 50 jobs that use unidata stage to acesss to the unidata 5.2 files.
The unidata system will be upgrade from version 5.2 to 6.1.

Therefore, would like to know whether we can use unidata stage (not the unidata 6 stage) to access to the unidata version 6.1 database/files instead of modifiying all 50 jobs to change the stage from unidata stage to unidata 6 stage?

Thank you for any advice.

Regards,
Tang

Welcome aboard. :D
The UniData 6 stage is certified only for UniData 6.0 as far as I am aware. Check with IBM, who own both DataStage and UniData. It may be that the stage works with UniData 6.1 but is not certified only because IBM believed there was no-one using the combination. Or they may need to put out another version of the UniData 6 plug-in stage.

Hi all,

Just an update.

We encountered some problem like udserver process disappeared in unidata 6.1.1 and we have now reversed back to 6.0.9 which is the version certified and stated in the DataStage readme file. However, we still encountered other issue in record loading into unidata not tally(number of row loaded reported in director not tally with the number of rows in the unidata table)...this case has escalated to IBM engineering.

We actually can use unidata stage (not unidata 6 stage) to connect/insert data into a unidata 6 database but not recommended by IBM support. However, we are using this unidata stage as the workaround for the unidata loading not tally issue with unidata 6 stage...while waiting for a patch from IBM engineering.
