Progress and MFGPRO

Post by Amos.Rosmarin »

Hi,

I'm looking for information regrding data extract from MFGPRO Or PROGRESS db.

Has anyone used DS to access a Progress database?
If you have, could you tell me which make of ODBC driver was used (presuming connection was made via ODBC) and/or any gotcha's to watch out for.

Is it still true that the odbc connection is very slow and not recommanded ?

Thanks,
Amos

Do an exact search on Progress. You will see quite some posts. That means that Progress is present in the environment for quite some posters here.

There is only one relevant post regarding mfgpro.
I do not know if it's still relevant .... we are living in a changing world.

I know howto search, hoping for replays from people that are working with this database.

I've seen it , thanks

It is not relevant since it is talking about loading data.
I'm doing only extract

I know it is possible with odbc, but is it practicle ?
I heard it is very very very slow ... is it so?

Thanks anyway

Extraction from MFGPRO OK

Post by abby77 »

Hi,
We have been extracting data from MFGPRO on Progress Db for a year now and we have never had any issues. The load rate is about 500rec/sec .

Hi Abraham,

thanks for the information

Can you please elaborate

Are you using the DS odbc (data-direct) or another ? if so, which one?
What is the extract rate (just an avg. in order to get the feel)
What are you doing with complex field - extract them as-is and then manipulate it in DS or do the manipulation in the MFG ?

Many thanks,
Amos
