change list of servers to use when starting Designer/Directo

Hi,

This is not a mission critical problem, just a little daily irritation.

When starting Designer/Director/Manager i am given a list of possible datastage servers to log on to.

Through time this list has grown large and more than half the servers are no longer running, due to upgrades/moves etc.

How can i remove items from this list.

I have searched the registry for entries containing the name of one of the not_to_be_used_servers.
Searched the client installation for files containing the same

all to no avail

It's in the registry. You should be able to find entries for everything that shows up in the Host System dropdown under:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ascential Software\DataStage Client\Director\

One entry per host name or IP.

Hi Chulett,

I found those and removed old entries, but to no avail, i still get the same list as before, no matter which tool i start.

Actually the list of entries under that address, was not the same as the one i get to choose from when starting a DS application

i'll keep looking for a solution

Did you reboot after removing them?

I'll check a couple more machines today.

I know this is an old post, but I came across it after having the same minor problem as Peter. I found I could simply highlight the entry in the host system drop down list, then delete it. It is then permanently removed from the list. Deleting entries from the registry did not work for me.

Yah, too simple.

Strange, because it must be removing them from a registry entry somewhere so you should be able to reverse the process and nip (or add) them from the other end as well. However...

Chances are that there's more than one Registry entry that needs to be removed. DataStage has always been profligate in its use of the Registry.
