Switch over from default port

Post by Poornagirija »

hi folks, :D
We are working in DS 7.5.1 on IBM AIX.
We are moving from one network to another network.

All my Datastage jobs are running fine in one network say example 10.xx.yy
But im getting the error message RPC daemon not running when i tried to connect(DS client) from 9.xx.yy network to my DS server.

We are trying to access across the network using aventail software for security purpose.
My network admin was telling aventail would allow only ports from 1520 -1529.
Our DS is working with 31538 port.
How to switch that default(31538) port to 1520? where i can find the pdf or material for that?

Is there anyway to overcome this problem without swithing to different port. :?:

Any suggestion will help us a lot

Many thanks in advance
With Regards,
Poornagirija.

Why not reconfigure the Aventail software to allow connections through port 31538 - this was chosen as it isn't used by other software. By limiting your ports to just 10 you are going to have guaranteed conflicts either now or in the near future.

The ports can be reconfigured - the clients will need to connect using a server name of "YourServer:1520" and the server engine needs to be configured to use that port; the details are listed in the "Installing Multiple Servers" guide (called "multiserv.pdf")

If you have installed the 7.5.1 client then you need to look in the directory that Kumar listed - it will be there. If not, why not get your DataStage installation CD and search for all the PDF files on it - it is there. Remember that urgent requests need to go to your support provider and are misplaced here.

But iam not sure, why you get this error. Could you post the full error log.
Is that you restarted the server recently? (Without closing all clients connection)

Ahh, but the poster knew why he was getting the error - because the port is blocked by security software. So the question was how could he change his DataStage port number.
