Hash Files

Post by kollurianu »

Hi all,

on the outputs window , what does the "type" "S" mean and the "position"

field mean.

how does a hasfile know whether it is fixed file or pipdelimited file?

i mean if the input is fixed or pipedelimeted file how a has file know ,
becos there is know format tab in hash file stage.

Any inputs greatly appreciated.

Thank you all,

There is no such concept in a hash file of delimited or fixed width data. The S is for specialized Universe data sources that have multi or sub-multi-valued data. Ignore it.

Datastage Uses its own hasing algorithams

Hash files stores the data by using the hasing algo's.

The data written by the hashfile is not in plain text.

Please see the Ascential docs for further on Hash files.

Thanks
