Installation issues

Post by cheerfu1 »

Hi all,
Has encountered the following error while installating Datastage server.

Aix5.1 - Datastage6.0

Searching for installed components
**./install.sh[2885]: 1343588 Bus error

Installation canceled

Installation is done using super user <root> . could this be the reason?
thanks :?

No.

A bus error occurs on the backplane of the machine; that is, there's a problem somewhere with the hardware. Get your UNIX system admin involved.

Try installing to a different location.

Thanks!

But to clarify, does installing as a super user cause any impact ??

You must do the installation as root.

Have a look in install.sh and check whether all components referenced in there exist. When you install e.g. DataStage on Solaris depending how you mount your install media (or how you ftp it to the server) you have to make a few manual changes.

Then print out the "install and upgrade guide" and read it.
