SAP Connectivity - ABAP Plug -in- Transport error

Hi,
We are trying to intsall the ABAP Plug-in for SAP R/3.
One of the steps in the installation manual says that we have to verify that the transports are imported and activated before proceeding.
But when we check for syntax, we are getting an error in
Z_RFC_DS_SERVICE, saying that the DESCRIBE LENGTH can be used "IN CHARACTER OR IN BYTE MODE " only..when we checked the function we saw a check was being made for DATA TYPE = I and then DESRIBE <xxxx> LENGTH <xxxx>.
Can anybody throw some light on this...What shd we do? Go Ahead and change the I( Integers) to C (CHARs) or activate it anyway with all the errors. All Help as always is appreciated. Let me know if you need more info.
