Getting error while opening datastage director

Hi,

I installed DataStage 7.1 client on my system. We can't able to open datastage director for running job. I tried to connect to near by datastage server. I can able to open other 3 client tools, i.e. manager, designer, administrator.

but, It is giving the following error message while opening director
"Failed to connect to host: 9.184.252.48, project: Nandi
(The connection was refused or the RPC daemon is not running (81016))"

If any body knows, please reply the solution.

Hi,
possible easons:
1. IP mistake trying ot conncet to a machine with no DS installed.
2. server refuses conncetions from your specific client - check with sysadmins.
3. rpc daemon is down - if so other clients won't work as well.

in case all of the above did't happen try uninstall and reinstall of the client pc.

The most likely problem for error 81016 is that dsrpcd is not running on the server machine. If it's not running, you can diagnose why it won't start, or simply try to re-start DataStage services and check that it's now running. The most usual cause for failure to restart dsrpcd is that it can't bind port 31538 because it is in use by a process (even though that process is in a SLEEPWAIT state waiting to finish).

This is a general installation and permission problem noted in DataStage where you cannot open a new instance of a client from 'Start -> Program' route but can do the same via 'Tools -> Run <client>' from a DS Client already open.

Hi,

I installed Datastage on my PC(both cleint and Server) OS is Windows XP Professional.

I got same error which u got exactly.
RPC Daemon is not running error 81016.

I can open Designer and Director.But im not able to open Administrator and Manager.

Tell me how you resolved this issue.
