DataStage 7.5.1 client running on NT

Post by gpaitch »

Is there anyone running DS 7.5.1 client on NT? If so, have there been any issues regarding the install or connect.

I don't think that DS 7.5 server or client is supported or even installs on NT.

Ok Thanks guys. I thought that would be the case. The main reason is that currently our SOE is NT. I myself have XP which will be fine and it seems that this can substantiate the business case for all developers to go to XP.

In the past, you were able to install the client on unsupported platforms and (possibly) get away with it running ok. For example, XP Home. which the 6.x client worked just fine on.

With the advent of the 7.x series, not only is XP Pro the only flavor of XP supported, but the installer checks your operating system and if it isn't on the list of supported one - it will not let you install the product.

7.1.x will install on Windows NT 4 (and works properly). 7.5 is the first that won't.

Contrary to suggestions provided. DataStage 7.5.1 client does install successfully on Windows NT SP6a.

We installed it this morning and developers are currently working that environment as well as XP. The only issue is that the product is not supported by Ascential for NT as they cannot guarantee that it works. But the proof is in the pudding.

Being that NT is such a stable, robust and secure OS, I can't see why anyone would not want to continue to support it.
