Sequence jobs and check points

Post by davidnemirovsky »

Does anyone know if Sequence jobs in Datastage 7.0 support check points for restarts? Or is this only available in versions 7.1+ ?

New in 7.1.

If you go to 7.5 you also get LoopStart and LoopEnd activities.

Thanks Ray.

Thought so. I have been importing some jobs of mine from 7.1 into 7.0 and it kept complaining about "Unknown property name: 'Checkpoint'". That sort of gave it away to me. But it's good to be sure.

I really don't think DataStage supports imports to older versions, even across minors. While the process can upgrade jobs, I doubt it would attempt to 'downgrade' them and I doubt there would be any guarentee that the jobs would work correctly if you did so.

Not saying that it wouldn't work... mostly.

I'm currently using DataStage 7.5 and am trying to get some information on how checkpoints can be used to implement job restartability. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

I'm assuming that it would be a part of a Sequence job but which type of activity and where can I get documentation on this?

But by answering that you're ignoring it, are you really ignoring it? 8)

Well, I had a nice little answer all penned out but then noticed the 'never mind' message when I did a Preview, so I changed what I was going to post. Seemed appropriate.
