When do changes to cache size parms take affect?

If the Read Cache Size or Write Cache Size is modified in the Tunables of Project Properties, when does the change take affect. Does it immediately affect all existing jobs in the project or do the jobs have to be recompiled?
I have searched but cannot find the answer. I have a group wanting to change from 128 to 256 in our production environment. I am reluctant to do so until they test in a less critical environment.

The change does not require recompilation. When a job starts this setting is read and used.
