A complete delete and re-installation is certainly possible and I'm willing to give that a go (have done that before without success though). I know the removal of the software can be tricky and in prior un-installs i've simply used add/remove programs feature to remove the suite and re-install. Is ...

I'm not really sure why it's hanging; bit of a worry if you guys have not seen that before. I actually issued the command and let it run only to return after quite some time to see the command window just hanging there with the hour glass. Seems the only way to kill the defunct processes is with a r...

That shows that there are four clients attached to the project, of which three are defunct processes (have no process ID). You should be able safely to execute UNLOCK userno ALL command for the three user numbers (other than 62928) that do not have process IDs. When I try execute the UNLOCK userno ...

The only security software I can see is Symantec Anti-virus; windows firewall is also currently disabled. How would I change the global access rights to the Dstage server and project directories? Also, when I try telnet, nothing happens; a telnet window pops up for about a second and says attempting...

Post-installation problems with IBM info server
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could provide some assistance around some errors I am receiving following installation of v8 on windows. Basically i've installed the IBM v8 toolset (datastage, info analyser, etc) on a WIN2003 virtual server with SP1 which has approx 4GB ram and 10GB HDD. I've also ins...

Similar error - possibly different cause?
Hi, I've had a similar error and have read a lot of past posts but can't find a definite explanation i.e. our file is only 300Mb, there is plenty of space on the drive and the key is made up of two integer columns. Also this problem occured on a rerun where using the same data the previous load had ...

Detecting corrupt log files
Friends, I am managing a project where there are frequent datastage crashes which require a server reboot. We are investigating and following this up with IBM. One side effect of having to reboot the server mid-batch execution is that the log files of jobs which are executing often become corrupt, r...

IsNull() is appropriate on the key value for the lookup (since keys must be NOT NULL) but not on non-key columns, which might return null even if their row is found. Personally I have never had a problem with the NOTFOUND link variable, but all (well, at least 99%) of my lookups are to local hashed...

Sounds to me like it is working correctly. You have outlined two (2) conditions - 1) linkname.column is null AND 2) linkname.NOTFOUND Just because linkname.column evaluates to null does not indicate that the lookup failed. You need to evaluate both conditions. If the lookup fails then the value of ...

Hi - Sounds to me that the behaviour is correct. If the lookup doesn't produce a result then NOTFOUND is true (implied in row NOT FOUND :) ) - so you need to negate it in order to get the result you want eg. Not(LinkName.NOTFOUND) Regards Peter Sorry, that is what I meant :D If(IsNull(LinkName.sour...

NOTFOUND link variable curious behaviour
Hi all, I have encountered some curious behaviour regrading the link variable NOTFOUND. For one of my jobs the lookup produces no results, however the contraint which uses the lookup variable NOTFOUND still evaulates to true. When the NOTFOUND link variable is replaced with IsNull(lookup.source_colu...
