Re: Sync between Import Category & User-Defined Category

As long as you re-run the same import, and the identity string of the tables remain the same, the user category should stay in sync. From my experience, if you change, for example, the schema name for the table in Erwin, MetaStage will consider that there is a new table, and that the original table ...

This forum is still FREE. Just the 5 premium posters listed on the front page have the ability to restrict portions of their answers. How bad is that? I understand the concept behind this change, and I'm not against it. However, what I don't still get is: will all the posts from the 5 premium poste...

Re: Where is the physical column name in CommonDSA

Hi, Now we are going to further extend our usage on MetaStage but there is one problem, i.e. we could locate the physical colume name of the PDM in the CommonDSA repository. There are hundreds of tables in the metadata model and we have no luck to locate the table. What do you mean with "Common...

Re: Linking Business Metadata to Technical Metadata

Hi Giri, I think I see your point. The user manual tells you how to link objects that appear in the Category Browser, to a term, in the same window. But you can do the same dragging and dropping from one window to another. For example, you can do a search for column defintions in one window, select ...

Re: Linking Business Metadata to Technical Metadata

Hi Giri, Have you already tried pages 6-6 / 6-12 (Managing Terms, Glossaries, and Business Domains) of MetaStage's User Manual? Gaby After loading Business Metadata in excel files into the MetaStage directory using Custom Metabroker how do we link the attributes defined in business metadata to the a...

When you import your DataStage project into MS, the tables which originated in ERwin will have a different Identity String than the tables which originated in DataStage. I get it now, MetaStage considers the tables to be different (they have different Identity Strings) because they come from differ...

Re: How can I unpublish a category *Published to browser*

I figured it out.

If someone else needs to do it:
-Remove all the objects from the category
-*Publish to browser* the empty category.
A message appears that the process has been stopped because the category is empty, but the rows that previously existed for the category are deleted.

Re: MetaStage Publication and Subscription

Hi Giri,

Have you tried going back on the directory versions? I've done that when I got a strange error message that couldn't figure out. Maybe it's not the best way to solve the problem, but, so far, it has done the trick. Backup the directory database before doing it.

Hope this helps.

How can I unpublish a category *Published to browser*

Hi, Is there a way with MetaStage to unpublish a category that has been "Published to Browser"? I've been thinking that the alternatives could be: - Drop all the tables that have been created for the browser, and republish the other categories that have been already published, if it's the ...

I've been doing some reading about id...

Publishing and re-importing metadata

I'll first describe the scenario: I have imported an Erwin data model into MetaStage, created a user-category, published it, and then subscribed and exported the table definitions into DataStage. When I import the table definitions from DataStage into MetaStage again, MetaStage does not recognize th...

MetaStage Directory on SQL Server 2000 DB Configuration

Hi all, Is anyone using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 for the MetaStage Directory? Are there any recommendations about how to configure the database in SQL Server? I have read the Administrator's guide, and all I found is how to configure the ODBC DSN, and haven't found additional information. The reaso...
