Two DS Servers on Same system

Is it possible to install/run two different DS Servers with different versions, say 7.0 and 7.5 on the same machine? How about clients? Is migration from existing DS7.0 jobs to DS7.5 handled automatically by the latter?

Thanks for the tremendous amount of responses guys. Like what most of you pointed out, the slowness was due to the various constraints applied to the target table. Once I had them disabled, it just took seconds to load.

Thanks ... all of you.

Have you set your 'Array Size' and 'Rows per Transaction'? These 2 parameters in the stage affect our loads into Oracle. Also, we disable indexes other than the primary key to improve performance. It has been set at 1000 rows. I was trying to load it without disabling any constraints since my previ...

Do you have a primary key or unique index on the table? When I have seen loads slow down this much it was because we were getting primary key or unique index violations. Does your log give you any useful information? Yeah, there is a unique index on the table, apart from a few other indices. But, t...

The job contains simple inserts, no updates. Will get my DBA to create a new dummy table without the constraints and check the performance again. Thanks.

Extremely slow Oracle Loading

Hi, I have a very simple job which uses a flat-file source that passes through a transformer, where a couple of new fields are appended with some default values and then loaded into Oracle via OCI stage. I use DS7 on Windows, Oracle 9i. The problem is it starts loading at a rate of about 250 rows/se...

Also, as suggested by Ray, it will certainly help designing the job using multiple transformers and sandwiching IPC stages in between these active stages to most utilize the capabilities of a multi-CPU server box. Thanks, Naveen. Hi Naveen, When using the IPC stage, how do I determine the optimal s...

Thanks guys. Here, I was talking about having over 20 lookups in a single Transformer.

Max number of Hashed files

Hi, I have a few questions with respect to references in Server jobs. 1. Is there any limit to the number to hashed files used for references/lookups in a single job? 2. In case there isn't, then what about performance, would it be better to have the job split into a number of jobs so that the looku...

Thanks Kalpana, I did it using a much simpler way. Sorted input based on StudentID. I declared a stage variable 'stgPrevValue' whose derivation was- If(RowProcCompareWithPreviousValue(InLink.StudentID)) Then stgPrevValue:InLink.Grade Else InLink.Grade Then voila!! All I needed to do next was to grou...

Represent multiple records into one with conditions

I have a file which maintains data of StudentID and Grade(A,B,C,D or F). StudentID Grade ----------- ------ 111 B 222 A 222 C 111 B 111 A Note: Duplicate rows are permitted. Now, I need to transform the file into - StudentID Grade ----------- ------ 111 B B A 222 A C Essentially, get one record for ...

What Version of DataStage are you using. Its a Similar to the Issue that we had. It was going thru the whole domain tree 65000+ and timing out. There is a patch that we received. It still takes about 10 minutes to access the properties. Ask them to refer to ecase 77231. If you do not have any luck ...

When you connect with the Administrator client do you have administrator privilege? Yes, I have admin privs. Are there very many UNIX groups on your server's domain? It may be taking a long time to determine who belongs to the various groups. Indeed, this sometimes out with "unable to enumerat...

Hey Arnd,
Why would you need the logo? And, with the 3rd most postings to boot...All of us know you. Unless of course, even you get that 'Join' logo in the midst of postings.
