My UniVerse skills are moderate, and there are some UniVerse gurus on this forum so I'll let them answer you in detail. But if you didn't know, or the others didn't know, IBM provides on its website a 2-user free license for UniVerse 10 Personal Edition so you can have lots of fun on Saturday nights...

data originating from spreadsheets
I despise data coming from a source of a spreadsheet or comma separated file created from a speadsheet, as they are more prone to have data integrity errors than a database table. As a best practice I always load this source data into a real database before doing anything else with that source, so I...

I've heard that Morney le Roux's recommendation works, although I wouldn't want to mess with it. The easier part is running 2 versions of client on the same machine with 1 server. There is no natural way to run 2 versions of DS Server on an NT machine, although to be technical there probably is a wa...

I don't think this applies to your exact question/wish, but as an FYI its a lot easier to write a scripts to modify the .xml exports of componts than .dsx and usually easier for just a plain find and replace. Sometimes project wide changes can be easily made form an .xml export and reimport of after...

DS migration from NT to UNIX
Does anyone have a checklist of tasks for migrating your DataStage server from NT to UNIX? I have a general idea of everything that needs to be done...just wanted to save time and avoid the chance of overlooking something, so if you have a good checklist of migration items please pass along.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I've never heard of anything like this. Can you tell us if you have tried to reinstall the client software on the machine having troubles? Or was a previous version installed and possibly you have a mixture of old and new .dll's? I'd say reinstall would be the first step towards a solution, after th...

DSJ.JOBSTATUS
I'm seeing conflicting information in my Server Job Developer's Guide and the compiled help module for DataStage Designer. The pdf document says DSJS.RESET, DSJS.RUNFAILED, and DSJS.RUNNING are statuses for 'a job that is in progress'. It says DSJS.RUNOK, DSJS.RUNWARN, DSJS.STOPPED, DSJS.VALFAILED, ...

Doing an ELSE CASE within a CASE
In UV BASIC the case syntax is: BEGIN CASE CASE expression statements [CASE expression statements . . . ] END CASE In a psuedocode sense I want to have an ELSE after my CASE's and before the END CASE. What is the best way to approach this. At the moment I'm working on a routine and want to pass an e...

In re-reading the thread and looking at the copy/paste of the dsbuildinfo file, you'll see that the DSEngine version (7.0.1.1r2) can be on a different level than the DataStage version (7.1.0.8), thus the confusion as to whether to call your release 7.0 or 7.1. It seems like they've aligned the Clien...
