That is freaky weird. Interestingly, over the past few weeks I have moved machine's three times and had to install/reinstall DataStage and Visio many times. I've done it in a different order each time (e.g. DataStage first then Visio, and vice versa) and never had a problem. I agree with ArndW - uni...

Different Options, Best Performance

Hi Guyz, I have a couple of options to acheive a result, and wonder whether there would be a significant performance advantage in either. Option 1: Two Datasets, through transformer, into funnel. DS_A-----TR_A \ FU---> / DS_B-----TR_B Option 2: Two Datasets, through column export, then again, then c...

Oops! Forgot to say: The value of your assessment stage variable sends the rows to different output links from the transformer. If the OldID and NewID match, send it as a duplicate. If they don't match, then it is the first record and any other duplicate records will follow it.

You can create a "Manual" Remove Duplicates by using a Transformer. Ensure your data is sorted and partitioned on the grouping keys before entering the stage. Then, use stage variables to assess each new attribute against the preceeding rows. - Create a stage variable called NewID and set ...

I'm more concerned about why the CDC cannot read the Teradata source. At it's basic level, shouldn't the job design be: Teradata Existing Records | V Teradata Change Teradata New --> Data --> Insert/ Records Capture Update (Of course, once the CDC is complete and records are tagged as Insert or Upda...

What do you mean? Does it raise an error, do the rows stop, or are no changes identified?

Thanks for all your responses. I've got a (very speedy) reply from the CCA International Sales Director, advising: Model 204 provides connectivity to most platforms through our Connect * Suite with Horizon TCP/IP and alternatively via IBM's Websphere/MQ with MQ/204. Our manuals are available on-line...

DataStage experience with Model 204 database...

Hi, Has anyone ever had any experience(s) on a DataStage project that used M204 as a database source? In the past I've sourced from DB2, SQL Server, Teradata, and text files but have never come across M204 before. I can't find too much about the database iteself or development advice online - there ...

If you want to replace the entire table it would be better NOT to use Delete (or Truncate) with DB2 in DataStage, because a "Delete *" will be passed to the database and the log files will fill up. Faced with a similar situation, I wrote a script to create an empty file in Unix and then Re...

Error in PivotPX Stage

Hi, Trying to add a PivotPX stage to my parallel job. Once I have connected my input and ouput streams, I open the stage to edit properties. But when I try to change tabs I get the following error: vmdsstge ! Run-time error '6148': Invalid row number OK I get tossed back to my job designer and I can...

Has anyone got any advice for merging the two different methods of creating HTML documentation in DataStage? I've used Kim Duke's wrapper for JobReport to generate an overall index page and HTML per job. But there is a preference to use the Ascential format of documentation, mostly because of the bi...

To create two columns with matching lengths, add a Transformer stage before the Filter and use this to create new column(s) with matching length. Or, use a Transformer stage to assess if each record should pass. Assess Fund = FundCode as a Stage Variable and then add a Constraint to your output to o...

Thanks Om, Thanks Ray, I've looked at my jobs and identified areas where I can fix this aggregation issue. I will add a Sort stage and repartition before each Aggregator and use the Sort Method. This is a lesson learnt that I will not forget - things were fine when developing using only 100 records ...
