IBM PX Advance course DX455

I am not sure when IBM added the PX EE 8.0 Advance course but has anyone been on it and is it worth it for someone that has been working in the 8.0 environment for two years. I took the advanced 7.5 EE course and would like to know if it's in my best interest to take the 8.0 course. From reading the...

In DecisionStream, the columns would be derived by the product when the sequel was run. I enabled RCP but I needed to define one column to view the data and only that column is displayed.

Column Description

Is there a way to use user defined SQL and not have the columns defined in the column descriptor. The reason I ask is, we are using some custom sequel and find it a pain to manually type the column names and datatypes. Is there a simpler way.

Thanks

That`s exactly correct. If you use the ODBC, the table datatypes may not be exactly as the Oracle definition. It is better to use Orchestrate. That being said, if you deal with CLOB`s and BLOB`s, ODBC works better. Not exactly sure why but we ran into problems for those datatypes.

I have had this happen and in order to get it working, I substituted CSV for TXT and tab delimited. I found that the comma delimited sometime give me a headache.

I have used this and it works but I would adhere to the export in designer as it is robust and simple to use.

Well after 5 weeks of grueling pain, I think we have solved this issue. Today June 18th, IBM will be releasing a patch regarding the MKS Toolkit which solves many broken pipe problems. If you are a Windows client and receive many broken pipe issues, I suggest getting the patch from IBM.

Follow-up: We have two servers. DEV and PROD If I run the same job on each server, I get two different results. On the DEV server, the job completes normally. On the PROD server, the job aborts. The only DS difference is a hot patch IBM offered to fix another problem. I have a suspicion that the pat...

ArndW, I am located in Ottawa, Ontario. There are only 3 or 4 Datastage shops. Mostly, Server. I hooked up with a contract with the EE version. What worries me is that when the contract ends, I will have limited opportunities to continue with this product unless more departments jump on the bandwago...

I took both beginner and advance courses through IBM and I still learn more through trial and error. It has been a frustrating learning process and there is very limited knowledge in Canada. I know that IBM want to gain a bigger market but they will need to provide better support. Thank god this for...

If anything, I don't think the Lookup is working in the SCD. It's difficult to determine. I simplified the process with Peek stages and still no comparison. As usual, the learning curve grows....

You will see an increase in performance if you decrease the node configuration. The startup time for 8 node will be high and with 1 or two node alot less. I would experiment with the node configuration. You will be very surprised.

Yes, we did verify the space and this wasn't the issue. We have opened a ticket with IBM and they indicated Swap space. Also, not the case. I have heard rumblings about the Oracle Enterprise stage and its issues but we can't be sure. I have a feeling this is going to be a long a painful process tryi...
