Thanks for the Reply Mark. What version of ODBC are you using? and what driver manager? Do you get the ODBC warning 6066:[INTERSOLV][ODBC 20101 driver]6060? Our jobs are as simple as possible ( just one transformer, one aggregate, one link to insert or update the target tables and another to insert ...

Hello, I am using DS V3.6 running a DEC ALPHA using ODBC against a RedBrick Database. What I have found is that it depends on how much you are trying to do in your jobs. I had some jobs that had about 15 hash file look ups, 4 transformer stages and an ODBC connection which was pulling out between 4 ...

Datastage V3.6r2 (ODBC V3.11) on Compag ( Dec ) Alpha runnin

Does anyone have experience with running Datastage V3.6 r2 on a Dec Alpha running TRU64 Unix V5.0(Rev9.10). Using ODBC V3.11 ( Intersolv ) Most importantly we need to improve the throughput. We are also having problems with ODBC warning 6066:[INTERSOLV][ODBC 20101 driver]6060. Has anyone tried using...

Brad, SQL*Plus will accept a script file as a command line parameter. Keep in mind that the name of SQL*Plus sometimes changes from version to version. We are running Oracle 8.0.4 where it is called PLUS80.EXE. Refer to your Oracle documentation for exact syntax. In my case, I first create the scrip...

Calling stored procecures

David, You mentioned a week or two ago that you issue calls to stored procedures via a routine that will execute SQL*Plus statements. Did I get this correctly? I know how to call DOS and Universe commands via a routine, but Im not familiar on how to do it for SQL*Plus to an Oracle machine. Any hints...

Fair comment Rick. We are currently using 3.5r2. I would very much like to go to 4.0 as there is new functionality which would make some tasks I have to do (or mostly have already done) easier (multiple rows from a lookup pops to mind). We currently have very tight deadlines and budget. We do not cu...

DataStage Release Level

I have noticed in a number of messages that several people are still back on the release 3.1 and such and some are just going to upgrade to 3.6. Was just curious on why the upgrade path is not keeping up to the latest release of 4.0. I have worked with every release of the product since its birth in...

DB2 ODBC client needed for HP-UX 11

I have a new install of DataStage release 4 on HP-UX 11 which needs to access DB2 data on our AS/400s. The Merant ODBC drivers for HP-UX 11 does not include a driver for DB2. If anyone is currently extracting DB2/400 data to an HP-UX 11 server, would you please share how you did it?

Thanks,
Lanny

Hi David, Nope. Youre not alone. Usually we have the problem with OCI8 input jobs hanging on completion. Its gone ahead and flushed the various rows out of heap memory and written them all to a hashed file, but the job just wont complete. Sometimes weve had start problems on jobs that do no external...

This problem has also happened to us in the past and does still happen but less frequently now. We have had it happen with both ODBC (connecting to Oracle & SQL Server) and with Unidata stages as the input, so there does not seem to be any consistency there. Also, it is not repeatable, it happen...

We do had faced the same problem, with ORAOCI8 stage ( data stage version 3.6) . And, we also tried to conclude that these may be due to too may processes running on the machine. And, reporting the problem to Ardent, got a patch for that. At the same time, we reduced the number of processes triggere...

Transform processes randomly hanging.

I have an intermittent problem. Some time back, (pre Informix days) I spent a fair bit of time looking into this, with the assistance of Ardent. We never did resolve it, but it became much less frequent, so I have not pursued it since. (More on this later). The symptoms are as follows: Within a job,...
