Thats why David suggested using the DS.TOOLS menu on the server. Are these the same jobs you earlier described as "hanging"? If so, have you upgraded from 3.6.3 to DS 3.6.3r2 so that the patch to fix the hanging problem can be installed? > ---------- > From: avinash.tadwalkar@db.com[SMTP:a...

Theres probably no single solution. You could use the Director option Cleanup Resources to view all locks on the system, or use DS.TOOLS menu on the server as an interactive UniVerse user. This will allow you to identify the lock on the job (see the record ID) and the process ID of the process holdi...

Have you tried "8. Clear locks held by all processes in a job" in DS.TOOLS? If this does not work, get back to us as there are other things that can be done. -----Original Message----- From: avinash.tadwalkar@db.com [SMTP:avinash.tadwalkar@db.com] Sent: Thursday, 24 August 2000 14:03 To: i...

I wish I could be of more help, but the ODBC is the slowest option there is. What you might try is writing a sql script that pulls the data out of the DB natively and creates a flat file then have the DS job use the flat file as input. You should see a huge improvement there. As far as error message...

Hi Mark We are using Merants ODBC driver for Informix, the version that came with DS 3.6.3. Im curious to what hacks you needed with Informix ODBC. Can you share your experince with us? We are not statisfied with the driver ourselves on Tru64 Unix. In particular the performance. Not to mention the &...

Hi Ray Thanks for the suggestion. The view/table were using is well within the defaults, at 91 columns and 1271 bytes per row. I went ahead and added the two max settings to our uvodbc.config in $uvhome. Same error still occurring. Must be something else. Ive since placed a call with tech support. S...

Most unixes have an INode limitation on a disk partition. And when you create lots of files (10+ per job) plus the size of the programs, plus tables greater than 64k (use INODE redirection), you start really burning INodes fairly quickly. Saying that, I have only run into this problem once. Cheers, ...

Hong, I run a DS job that inserts/updates an Oracle table with more than 90 columns using the Merant ODBC driver with no problems. What DBMS are you trying to connect to using ODBC? I was just curious. Ive had ugly hacks with Informix ODBC though related to other problems. However, reading the error...

Alternately, does the Monitor show all stages with a status of Finished, yet the status view show the job status as Running? This is a symptom of a different problem, yet one that you might perceive as a "job hang". Alas, the original note is not very informative about what is meant by &qu...

When a job hangs, does a monitor show one or more stages with a status of "Starting"? If so, probably you are going to need the patch I was referring to. Definitely time to log it with Informix (hopefully you have done this already - I have found their DataStage support very good, at least...
