it seems this error is happening to my client only. i've tried logging in as different users (both in datastage and from within the odbc import window) and have the same results. i've tried reverting my serial number back to what it was and it still returns the same thing. i don't know when this has...

odbc table definition import problem

Hi everyone, I've tried to load table names through odbc and can't seem to pull any. I've asked my office mate here to do the same, but everything seems to work fine in his workstation. What could have caused this error on my side? I don't remember changing anything on my setup (except maybe for the...

Handling CLOBs and CRLF.

Hi Everyone, I've read through a couple of threads and found no concrete solution in handling LongVarChar fields in tables. We have a problem with one of these fields. I've tried setting the length into monstrous proportions, but still to no avail. OCI_INVALID_HANDLE. That's not really our problem, ...

PeopleSoft by chance? In a PeopleSoft instance, all application tables are owned by SYSADM - and that can be 20 or 30 thousand tables. You must learn patience, Grasshopper. Interesting.. very interesting.. does it usually take hours? But actually, our older database has a di...

Exactly what Import | Table Definitions | choice are you using? "Plug-in Meta Data Definitions" lets you pick the database, the schema, the specific table(s). That should allow it to load pretty fast. John I am using that. I just found out that this issue only happens for one specific own...

It's called "Filter" before the table names are listed. Sometimes "Advanced". And unfortunately it doesn't exist in the OCI stages. Is there a way to filter out what tables to get from the database, instead of having to get the list of ALL tables? What could be the cause o...

trouble importing OracleOCI definitions

Hi everyone, I'm having some difficulty getting the list of our tables when I'm importing table definitions from Oracle. Actually, as of writing, I still haven't been able to get table definitions from Oracle. I was able to do so, though, from our older databases. Is there a way to filter out what t...

Does he belong to the same Unix group as you? Is he a member of dstage group? I just found out that this is the answer. Only one user group in UNIX can access the DS_LICENSE folder in DSEngine (same user group as dsadm), which is weird, considering you can allow multiple user groups to access DataS...

Ooops. Didn't see that post. Anyway, Is this supposed to happen to specific users? Because I can log in perfectly. I tried dsadm, and it can log in perfectly. It seems that the problem is solely to this one developer. Is the problem the disk space? Does this mean that each user that tries to log in ...

wow, this could be an issue. any suggestions in good practices on how you communicate this to all developers? It would be a challenge for us especially because we have developers across multiple continents. I wouldn't want everyone to have his/her own project. Nor would I want everyone to export the...

Locking Objects to Specific User

Hi Everyone, Is there a way to give a developer exclusive rights to an object he/she is developing/customizing (i.e. check-in the object)? At the same time, how would this object's lock be released once the developer is done with it (i.e. check-out the object)? I know that objects get locked to a ce...
