8. Using DS Manager, import all COBOL copybooks. How is this going to effect the migration from Prism from DataStage? What will happen in case I don't export the copybooks? For example if I have two tables, one is used as the main data source and the second one for lookups. To design a DataStage jo...

gdean ... I've got about 6 years of Prism experience so let me offer a few thoughts, bearing in mind there is no way to automate this: 1. Sometimes some very bad habits emerge if no one has been watching the store: do a diff between the COBOL code presently running in production and the code you gen...

Compiling Routines ... ??
Hi folks ... I've got a rookie error here, but I can't get past it: when I use KeyMgtGetNextValueConcurrent in a Transform stage it fails. So I go look at it and press Test. I get <<ERROR>>. Huh. So maybe it needs a compile, but the Compile button is grayed out. So I make a copy of it which enables ...

Dfong ... It is my understanding that you can use a custom metabroker to import spreadsheet information into MetaStage. I've not done this, but one of the meta data folks at Ascential suggested it as a working solution. If you don't have MetaArchitect, call Ascential and get an EVAL copy good for 3 ...

dfong ... Been thinking about your post and wanted to offer a thought or two: 1) to put data mapping specifications into MetaStage would mean they would have to exist elsewhere and be imported. If your focus is on your DataStage environment, when you import from DataStage to MetaStage, Job Design so...

Designer ReposBrowser hiding stuff
Hi Folks ... In the Designer I open a Transform Stage and rt-clk an integer field called trn_skey, choose Edit Derivation, then rt-clk and choose DS Routine. What I want is KeyMgtGetNextValueConcurrent, but it is not visible. I can see it in the Browser, and I can see it in Manager, but it is not av...
