I have the same problem (project not visible in the admin client but seen in the Projects directory), my host file looks like this. Can you please advice if reversing the hostname helps us.

Bollineik, there is a latest patch for 8.0.1 to fix this issue. Support might be able to get this depending upon the operating system and what version level you are running the datastage.

Check for following services and processes on the unix server before you login to datastage:

Datastage Engine: ps -ef|grep dsrpc
Websphere: ps -ef|grep server1
ASBNode: ps -ef|grep ASB*

or if you want to check all at once, you can do
ps -ef|grep IBM|pg
