Not sure about RTI services and Compatability. We use it for transformation both transactional and batch and for integrating systems utilising many of the supplied adapters - file, database, http, mime, ftp, JMS, Batch file, Archive

Read the documentation in the Docs folder of the product.
Basically the product has the design studio where maps to do data transformation are created and the run time environment which can be command driven using the Command server or event driven using the event server.

There is no setting to generate xml. You need a type tree which has the tags set as initiators/terminators. As I said before it's best to import an xml schema (xsd) or xml DTD into your Type Designer to generate the type tree for the XML. Look in Examples folder of software and look for example unde...

If you have an xsd or dtd for the xml, import it into type designer.
If it;s as simple as your example then use the start and end tags as initiators and terminators.
You could generate xsd from something like XMLSpy.

You should be able to. So long as you can describe the data in and out with a typetree you can do almost anything with DSTX.

Are you using Windows? If so dont forget to restart the event server at the Windows service level and not management console when adding or removing the system files you are going to run.

How did you specify your COUNT rule? It looks as though a simple COUNT would work but it needs to be done against the file object ie file input card.

probably by specifying the correct Item Subclass/National language/Data language in the type tree but I'm not 100% sure.
