How about renaming this forum WebSphere Transformation Extender as the product is now known. It might make it easier for the datastage people to find the right home.
Craig I wasn't trying to upset you but it would by nice to have the TX forum for TX questions and answers.

Craig,
If this is a DSTX forum then we really shouldn't be getting answers to other Datastage products posted here.
I think you misunderstand the meaning of 'own'- I refer to areas of expertise.
And the question is a perfectly good DSTX one.

If the rules apply explicitly to the data then the validation should be in the TYPE TREE as this is what is defining the data. If the rules apply to how the data is processed then they should bi in map rules.

However, you could use the LEFT, RIGHT and MID functions.
Extract the data into your input card using a query then split up the field as required.

Which ever version you choose to use I would hate to have to maintain a map with rules like them.

OK I think this does everything but I'm sure John will find something wrong. 8) Output is text in DD/MM/CCYY format. = //Test for end of month if(FROMDATETIME(DateValue,"{DD}") = word("31,28,31,30,31,30,31,31,30,31,30,31",",",TEXTTONUMBER(FROMDATETIME(DateValue,"{M...

We still have the problem of what to do with 29/02/2004.
In your example if I add 9 months I get 29/11/2005. A year out and should the month be at the month end?
In fact all years are 1 year out where the year should not change.

Mine's got bugs as well

I think this handles everything apart from leap years. This is for text output. Add TODATETIME for datetime format. =if(right(FROMDATETIME(DateValue,"{CCYYMMDD}") ,2) = word("31,28,31,30,31,30,31,31,30,31,30,31",",",TEXTTONUMBER(mid(FROMDATETIME(DateValue,"{CCYYMMD...

In that case I don't think it would be sensible to add months. I suppose it depends on what Amar_nath wants to do. Perhaps if you were working on the last day of the month, you could use ADDDAYS to add 1 day and get the start of the next month, add the months and use ADDDAYS to add -1 day to get the...

I think if you add months you would expect the day to stay the same. ie only the month and year would change.
