Thank you both!
I decided to just create a new version project and start using it. I left the old one as it is. It can still be used to promote old versions.
I think its the easiest way.

I'm almost certain that we have hit "operating system limit "number of subdirectories in a directory". VERSION project directory has exactly 32765 directories and the error while trying to initialize a job was "...unable to create operating system file". The OS is HP-UX thou...

I have tried exactly as quoted in my original post. It didn't work. All I ask now is for someone to confirm it was a "valid" try (one that would have worked on some other version). :?

Thanks Kim!
It does not work any more.
Just to make sure:
This means that parameter values cannot be changed with a hack like this in version 7.5.1.1 (version on my site)?

Or is this just an academic expedition into DataStage hackerdom?

It is! I would love to be able to do this! So why don't you tell me if you know how? :P

Change param values from within a job

I know it's not recommended, it's not documented and future versions will not support this. BUT, I'd still like to try. I have read some topics (there are a few): http://www.dsxchange.com/viewtopic.php?t=89419&highlight=STAGECOM.JOB.STATUS http://www.dsxchange.com/viewtopic.php?t=89625&highl...

PATH= ... /usr/bin ... /opt/langtools/bin ...

I found these directories in log (Director, Environment variable settings)
gdb and sed are inside. So, yes the path is correct there.

I was affraid this was the case.[/quote]

index maintenance, how to get it to work?

Oracle Enterprise stage: Load, Append Index Mode = Maintenance All indexes in the target table are local range partitioned indexes. Therefore index option maintenance can be used. Fatal error: main_program: Internal Error: (count <= numPartKeys): oraTable.C: 197 Traceback: Could not obtain stack tra...

I wish to explain why I need some DS help before I ask my DBA that question: I did an experiment with a target table that has no partitioned indexes, so index mode=rebuild may be used. I found the CTL file and it had: OPTIONS(DIRECT=TRUE, PARALLEL=TRUE, SKIP_INDEX_MAINTENANCE=YES). So I used this op...

Thank you Chulett very much. I was hoping to avoid involving job sequence in this. I guess DSguru was talking about setting parameters through job sequence.
I know everything about job setting its own parameters not being possible.
But there is always hope...

DSguru2B said: Call this routine in the job parameter's area I have just tested this. Created a rutine (Transform function server routine)that does nothing but assign to "Ans" like this: Ans="test_text". Then I put a call to this function into "default value" of a param...

Implicit conversion inside a transformer does it. Then the job aborts.

a)This warning is here regardless of what the value is . So if I was to abort the job after a warning, then it would always abort - not just when an out-of-range value is encountered. b)I have a null field value. It is displayed in both cases: 1) it really was null 2) it was out of range So one cann...
