Stored Procedure Stage - how does it work?
I have a situation where I believe I would benefit from using a Stored Procedure Stage, but I find the documentation to lack any detailed description of this stage. The online help file STPgui.HLP is missing in my installation and in the pdf files there's not much either. What I need to do is use a ...

Yes, I've realised that much. That is, I've found and used the 'generate html report' button in Designer, which generates an html report including a bitmap picture of the job or sequence design. What I'd like to accomplish though is that if I create a report for a sequence, I'd like it to have hyper...

Generate dynamic reports with hyperlinks?
I've downloaded the JobReport routine from ADN and it seems to work fine. I'm just somewhat curious to how it differs from the standard 'generate html report' functionality that already exists in Designer? There's not that much difference from what I can tell, apart from that a bitmap picture of the...

Just a note about how this issue was finally resolved. We did a full re-install (OS and all other software) of my client machine, and now it works fine. I have no more detailed information about what might have been wrong and letting the OS install run during the lunch hour probably was the most tim...

There shouldn't be any restrictions of that kind that I know of. And since Administrator, Manager and Director all work fine and it's just Designer that's not working it seems unlikely. And as I mentioned I've been working with this project since January and it's worked just fine. The only differenc...

Unable to run Designer unless Local Admin on client PC
We're running version 7.5 with the server on a unix box. My client machine is a Win 2000 SP3 (I know it says SP4 in the install guide but that hasn't proven a problem so far). My problem is this: I can't start DS Designer unless I'm local admin on the client box - Director and Manager are OK though....

I'm in a similar situation at the moment so I'm equally interested in what may be the answer to this question. I want to call an Oracle procedure or function (whichever is more feasible in Data Stage) from a Data Stage routine. The return value I get is a varchar and the routine will be called from ...

Is it harder to let the routine query the DB directly?
With regards to the method mentioned above; it requires an intermediate storing of the parameter value on a file in order to let the Routine Activity read it and make it available to later activities in the sequence. Would it be much harder to write a routine that instead takes reads the value from ...

The Win based scheduling tool...
Well, the reason for Tech Scheduler is that I'm a consultant brought in to do ETL stuff and it's the client's already implemented solution for scheduling all sorts of application jobs, not just Data Stage. Moreover the whole server side is outsourced and it's the outsourcing partner that also admini...

Indeed it does work using dsjob
In reply to my own recent post; I just verified on my own system that what Chulett wrote is definitely a way. Dsjob on my client PC has no problems invoking a job on the Unix server. Would anyone regard this as a solution that has any security glitches that would motivate using an rsh solution inste...

Dsjob from win to unix?
In reply to Chulett's post above:
Are you saying that dsjob on a Win machine can actually be used to invoke jobs on a different (Unix) server? I had the impression dsjob had to be run from a command prompt at the actual server or am I wrong?

Starting 'command line' jobs on Unix server from Win client
My apologies if this is a subject already addressed in earlier posts, I just seem to have a hard time getting good search results at the moment... What I'd like to ask is what the most feasible way is to let a windows based scheduling tool (Tech Scheduler) start jobs on a Data Stage Unix server. Do ...
