Connectivity port ranges for DS over VPN

We are just installing Information Server 8.0.1. Our users will obviously connect to DS server from DS client. Assuming that our IP is 210.100.100.100 for the server machine. Now, while connecting through VPN on Client what are the port ranges that we would need to specify.
Thanks!

column sqltype - bit

I have an EBCDIC/Binary data. I have defined column layout. For the column type bit(8) the length is 1. When I try to view the data it seems to be having a problem with that column.
Additional info -
1. ASCII file on UNIX machine
2. Fixed lengths columns.
3. No delimiters.
Pl. help.
Thank you.

Wouldnt it be better to use the parallelism mechanism on the SORT in DS instead of a flat file sort outside of DS.
My understanding is a sort of DS is not utilizing the PX mechanism. Im assuming partitioning and sorting in the SORT stage would be faster.
Thanks! Pl. reply!

Sort VS. AGGR

Hi,
I currently have a design where I need to Sort and Aggr.
Do you recomment a Sort in AGGR stage (or) a SORT stage followed by a AGGR stage. If so, why?
Thanks!

The way AGGR stage works on sum of decimal type columns is. When it performs a SUM it makes sure that no row is "null". When we contacted an Ascential pro' with the same problem. He mentioned it was a compiler related error, where the code needs to changed to avoid this problem in future. ...
